Week 1 at DTS!
Time to give you an update on all my YWAM-adventures. Cause they have been a lot this week! First of all; thanks everyone for reading my blog and following! You are awesome :D
So, I have arrived last Sunday Midnight at the YWAM Training Center. It was a very tough day unfortunately. I ended up very tired and a little bit frustrated. I will tell you guys why. Dear Mona dropped me off at Dallas airport at 6.30 am. I had to fly from Dallas to Detroit and than to Milwaukee. The flight from Dallas could only not go to Detroit cause of a snow blizzard. This we heard on our way inside the plane already. Our plane had to make a stop in Chicago before it could continue to Detroit, because the airport in Detroit was closed down due to the weather. In Chicago we waited and waited and waited inside the aircraft. After hours of waiting, we finally had the possibility to go to Detroit. Once here, we circled an hour above the big snowy clouds in Detroit, cause our airplane was just way to small for the hard wind. It was to much. Our plane would get blown away :P`. The storm was massive. After an hour we could finally land. Ive sat in an airplane for nearly 8 hours, while the trip was meant to be just 2,5 hours...
Arrived in Detroit, I missed my flight to Milwaukee of course. After a long wait I could fly with an aircraft to Milwaukee that was leaving 2 hours later! YES! I was so close to my destination now. But... Of course :P. My aircraft was FROZEN. From all the snow and frost that whole day. Our aircraft had to get treated by special soapy water to get off all of the ice. This all while sitting in the aircraft and just hearing all the cracking from the ice coming down. The wings had to get done as well. After 2 hours of waiting, our airplane could finally leave... I felt a bit lost and there was nothing I could do than just surrender myself to the situation. I prayed and tried to stay calm after such a day. I felt lonely and miserable, but I was trusting Gods plan and ways. He was going to get me in Madison, I was sure of that!
Arriving in Milwaukee, I was supposed to have the bus at 2.30 pm. Now I arrived at 8 pm of course... After asking, the latest bus was leaving an hour later. Thank our amazing Lord that I did not miss this one, because the travel to Madison was still 2 hours away. Two staff leaders picked me up from the bus station in Madison and it was still a long drive to the Training Center. But thankfully I got there and went straight to bed after an exhausting day :).
So right now, I'm living far away from the city. In the middle of nowhere, between barns. With a lot of corn fields around covered in white. Temperatures that go -25 degrees C. But man, what an awesome family I got here and how happy and excited I feel :). Just right at place. I'm getting used to being in the classroom again and studying Gods Word, doing worship every day during the school week. It has been amazing! I'm sharing my room with 9 beautiful girls. In total we have 21 students. 2 are from Swiss, 1 from the UK, 1 from Finland, 1 from Australia, and the rest is from the US. (see pictures below).
Today we have gone out to see the Capital city, Madison. We saw the Capital building and have gone out to eat pizza and walk around a little bit. Can't miss a stop at the post office either as well! I'm getting used to the American ''slang''. It just sounds so funny. I start laughing sometimes of how they speak. But I totally love it so much! And oh,... did you know that the Americans love macaroni n cheese? Even so much that they will put it on a slice of pizza. And this ''cheese'' is powdered orange colored cheese. For us Europeans, this is.. NOT cheese :P. Hahaha. I really did not like the pizza at all.
The group is bonding already quick, we had dance parties last week, work out together in the gym, ate a lot of American pancakes and I get to know other American food. I already love Reese's and peanut butter M&M's. But syrup and the peanut butter here are just not meant for Dutchies. Haha. Can't eat those.
It's good to live life in the snow. Inside with a good atmosphere. It's a safe place and open. I am surprised of how much I actually love the snow here and the cold weather.
And of course. The main reason why I came here, is to grow closer to God. He has been showing me a lot this week. I have learned so many things. He has been speaking about things in my life that I have forgotten about. I am learning about Him in a whole new kind of way as well. It's amazing. Meanwhile I get to Skype a lot with my other big love in Holland, who is faithfully following me in everywhere I go during my walk with God here :) Love it!
I am excited to see what is more to come :D! Next week I will let you guys know how my daily schedule looks like.
Lots of love to everyone. I miss you guys already
P.s. I don't have the money for the Outreach together yet...! As the location will be decided on Friday, I will let you know to what country I will go to. Please sponsor me if you have the intention to send me off in the world to reach people ;). His Mercy's are new every day for all of those around us! Let's not keep them unseen. As the Lord is having His eyes on them too.

Helemaal gaaf Aishah. God is getrouw en zo liefdevol.
Ik zie alweer uit naar je volgende blog!
Big hug! En liefs
