Lay it all down (week 3)
The week started off digging into the Bible. Making all the stories come alive. We went through almost all the chapters of the Bible in the Old Testament. Jason did such a good job by imitating a lot of scenes in the Bible, showing things that make you understand better what had happened at those times. Asking us to put ourselves in situations where the prophets or Jesus have been in. How would we have felt like? How would we have responded to some crazy things that happened? To me I saw The Word becoming so much more real. Things were making more sense to me now. And all of the Old Testament through all chapters, is getting ready for the coming of salvation. For the coming of mercy, hope, love and peace.
The next day we got to read a lot in the New Testament. Who Jesus was, what He was known for. Why He came to earth. Why He died and rose again. How He loved everyone unending. Giving every one a chance to live. To walk away from sin and to follow Him and be saved for eternity.
The most amazing person who has ever walked on this earth to me, is Jesus. I am in awe of what He has done on this earth. The people who waited on Him, thought Jesus would have been a warrior, in saving the Jewish people. That He would fight with an armor. Instead. He sat with sinners, loved the prostitutes, raised people from the dead. Healed the sick and the blind. Forgave every sin. It didn't matter to Him where you came from or what you have done. All that He wanted was/is for us to just BELIEVE. In Him. As eternal hope. The only way to the Father.
Many times He refers to Himself as being THE Way. To the Father. If you knew Him, than you would have seen the Father. Because they are one. The character of God is shown through Jesus. I have heard this things in church of course before. But this week it just made me look at it so differently. So much more clear. Jesus is not a fluffy person that thinks everything is just fine we do. He also came to bring Justice. He said very clearly in John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.''
In this, we need to follow Him and His commandments He gave us. It all starts with the fact that we can't do anything to deserve it. He gave it to us. Already. We just need to accept & follow. Following means this: We can only follow one thing at a time (Matthew 6:24). God states we are to have no other gods before Him (Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 5:7; Mark 12:30). To truly follow Christ means we do not follow anything else. Jesus said in Luke 9:23, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." There is no such thing as a "halfway disciple."
God gave us a choice. This is justice. God will let you turn away from Him if you decide to. He is not going to force you to Him. He will allow you to live far away from Him. It's up to us if we want to make Him LORD of our lives.
Darkness flees from Him and all good things come from and through Him. All I have to do is to give up my pride. Lay it down before Him. And proof myself unworthy. This is how I can actually say; LORD, I need you. I can't proof myself worthy, ever. Cause I will never be worthy enough before Him. We stand before a God who is sinless. No flaw in Him. The Creator of the universe. And I am a sinner in this story :). But He loves me so much. He loves us the most out of anything He has created. Because we were made in His image, to have a personal relationship with Him.
Yesterday was a pretty intense moment. We talked about bad things that happen in life, and why. Sometimes we don't know why children die. Why people get cancer. Why we have to suffer while being alive. But God promises is a place where there IS no more suffering. Jason gave a very openhearted testimony about his autistic son and how he struggles with this. At www.jasonhague.com you can read more about him and his journey in life with God ;). A lot to process for me from this week and still A LOT to come. I am excited! I keep digging in The Word. Hungry for more of God and what He wants to show me!
Next week on Friday we will go on a one-week outreach to New Orleans to a big festival. Sharing the gospel. We will do a road trip all the way to the south! Should be promising :D!
This evening, we went to the mall with our small group to get out a little. We had coffee and I just love spending time with some girls of our house. Yesterday we had a ''Love Feast'' organised by our staff. It was a fancy dinner especially for us to enjoy together and think of Jesus His Love for us. Also, I have started with keyboard lessons :) !! I am so excited. I am learning a song now and have homework in learning the chords, as I am doing a prayer and worship DTS. Monday I will be leading worship, which will be a very exciting and scary. Haha :). I am praying that God will take the lead on Monday, so that His Name will be lifted high!
Thank you for following week 3 with me :D !! I hope you enjoyed reading it. It was pretty long, and you have been holding on. Woohoo!
Love you all xx
