Week 7: Swings, hope and love
I am excited to write this new blog. Full of new adventures, as life at YWAM will never be boring. I have to say. DTS is wrecking my life, in an absolutely good way! I can´t believe how I already changed so much in my faith and believes in 7 weeks. It´s great! And Jesus is the one to thank :).
I am writing this blog, while being in Wakesha. It is a place close to Milwaukee. We are having our Outreach retreat. This means that we are away from Madison, our home base. Me and my outreach team. We are 8 together. Getting to know each other better. Bekah is a member of our team and she has amazing parents that are hosting us this weekend in their home. Taking amazingly good care of us! We are spoiled with good food, great company. A nice place to sleep and above all; less than 70 people around us. Today we went into downtown Milwaukee after church. We went to this little park with swings and had a blast and a lot of laughter. Also, we went to Lake Michigan, where one of our staff members left her keys inside the car. While she locked it. My team members have tried 1,5 hours to actually break in the car with all kinds of methods. Eventually. Believe it or not. Our smallest team member (we are all WOMEN!) has found a way to open the door. Which was hilarious to us. As we are missionaries trying to break open cars. Haha. Eventually we got to ride back home just before it started to rain and getting dark. Thank you Lord!
The past week another DTS group came to stay with us in Madison, which was very crazy. Imagine life with 30 people. And on top of that, around 37 people extra! Yes. Fun....!
Meanwhile we still had our lectures while the other DTS was doing their program. Our worship time was amazing with a big group. We did it in the gym at our place and it was amazing to praise God together, be happy and filled with joy and laughter. We had an evening where we did a special dinner, all together and sharing life and testimonies. It was cool to see how God has been working to me through this group.
The weather has been absolutely amazing the last week. The snow has mostly been melted. Today we even had 15(!) degrees. That was just a big blessing. We were able to get some sunshine. Go outside with our group and just enjoy each other while we play games and share stories to have more team bounding. We watched chick flicks, did sleep-ins, went hiking. Tomorrow we will stay till the evening before heading back to Madison, as class will start again on Tuesday.
The past week has gone by crazy. All of my days were filled. All day long. I was exhausted. Not only physically but also emotionally.
The lecture has been really good! It just makes me think a LOT. Haha. About my faith. How do I want to be a christian, why am I here this doing DTS. What my place and purpose is, etc. I can say that the ''wreckage'' in my life is in an amazingly good way. I wish I could explain everything in this blog, but that is just impossible. I would love to share testimonies if you are interested. Skype would be best. Still it's not possible to explain and share all.
Anyway..! Our Hot choco fund raise will be on the 5th of March. I am very excited to share Gods Word with the citizens and homeless people of Madison. It's crazy to think that I will not be back within 17 weeks. Which is 117 days. This journey is very fast and slow at the same time, as I am missing beautiful people right now. The TraningCenter in Madison is really feeling like home at the moment. My brothers and sisters there are my comfort in times of need. We talk a lot about what happens during our lecture phase and we are already missing each other when we have to separate for outreach. We will all be flying out on the 20th of April.
Please pray that we will find cheap airfare. As the tickets are now around $2000. Please pray for a good amount we will receive for the fund raiser. I still have to have around $1000 for completing my outreach fund. We will continue to prepare our hearts in the meantime. And will be praying for our trip in April and continuing to grow and understand our Lord and Savior :).
Lots of hugs,
